Treated Wastewater Permit
If you own a facility that may discharge treated wastewater into a water of the State, you will be required an Individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit or Individual NPDES Permit issued by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD).
Individual permits can be issued to public or private facilities. The permits that specifically deal with treated wastewater are the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permits and the Land Application System Permits. Both types of permits are available for industrial and domestic wastewater. LAS is for any facility that applies or intends to land apply treated wastewater. NPDES is required for any facility that discharges or intends to discharge to water of the state. The new or modified facilities may be required to submit a technical design review as part of permitting procedures. In addition, the EPD may request for special information for each individual project such as design development report (DDR), anti-degradation analysis, wastewater treatment operating manual and other supplement information that is necessary for permit issuance.
